Warrior Dash

This happened a couple months ago but I've been meaning to blog about it but I some how keep finding other things to do!

Warrior dash is a 5K race with 11 obstacles through out the course.  It was SO MUCH FUN!!!!  It didn't hurt that the weekend of the race was my 32nd birthday and my friend Katie's BIG 30th birthday so we decided to make a weekend out of it and rented a house in Helen, GA.

We started the weekend off on Friday afternoon with a friendly game of Putt-Putt at the local course!

Here is the putt-putt group.  We had 5 other folks that showed up later that afternoon.

Katie and I both got a hole in one on 11!!!

Grant took first place and I took LAST!!!!

After putt-putt we met the rest of the group out for dinner and then headed back in early to decorate our outfits for the race and to get a good nights sleep!

This is a picture of all girls before we were Warriors!  Noticed how clean and excited we look?

And this is a picture of the entire group after we we became Warriors!!  We still look excited but not so clean!

Grant, me and Weldon.  He jumped in our picture last minute!

Afterwards we hung out for a little while at the camp grounds and listen to the band and enjoyed a few well deserved cold beverages!  Then we headed back to the cabin to take a quick nap and to get ready to go our for Katie's big 30th celebration!

Here are Grant and Rosie...being Grant and Rosie (they were doing the Skinny pose, one hand on the outside hip...)

The two birthday girls!  Me 32 and Katie the BIG 30!

Grant and I before the night got started!

The girls before we went out to celebrate!

I have plenty of other pictures from the evening but these are the only acceptable ones!  It was a lot of fun and we will certainly be doing it again next year!!

Mac's Birthday 1

On Mac's actual birthday (4/20) Grant and I both took the day off.  We planned on going to get Mac's hair cut, havelunch in downtown and then heading home to meet my parents and his parents at our favorite Mexican restaurant.  We woke Mac up with the birthday song and then made him breakfast.  After Breakfast he took a long nap and when he woke up we headed into town to get his hair cut.

Here he is on his birthday morning.

So here is a little back story on the hair cut - I begged Grant to take him to a kid friendly place.  You know the ones where they sit in spaceships and watch TV with TRAINED people who cut wiggly children's hair all day.  He refused...wanted to take him to his barber.  Here is the result...

At first he sat there staring at me like Mom are you really going to let this old man near me with a sharp object...

Then he really got mad...I can only imagine he was screaming GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!

At this point he was reaching and chanting MAMAMAMAMA...

Poor Wayne (the barber). His hands were shaking and you could tell he was really uncomfortable.  I finally stepped in and ended this torture for my sweet boy.  He only got half his hair cut...it's okay it's blends just fine :)  The best part...Grant had gotten his hair cut before Mac so when it came time to pay he charged us full price for Mac's haircut which was the same amount we paid for Grants.  Moral of the story...listen to your wife :)  Haha!!

After the barber shop we headed to Six Feet Under to have lunch.  We were hoping it would be warm and clear enough to have lunch on the roof top but no such luck.  We did get some really cute pictures though!!

I love how you can see the skyline in all of the pictures!!  It was a long afternoon so we headed home and put Mac down for another long nap...it is tough turning one!

Later that evening my folks came in town and we meet Grant's family at Poblanos for Mac's birthday dinner.  This was the best picture that I have...sad.

We had a great day celebrating our little man's first birthday.  Will I feel this sappy when he turns 30..??  Probably!!!

Mac's Birthday Part 2

I am busy.  Period.  I have no other excuse on why I haven't been blogger other than that.  I have SO MANY things I need to catch up on.  Mac's first birthday party, Warrior Dash and Mother's day just to name a few.  So this is my attempt at catching up...like I always do.

Mac's first birthday party was Saturday April, 21st.  It is crazy how much work parents put into their children's birthday parties, I was no exception.  I remembered it called for rain on Saturday all week.  Each day the rain chance went up and my stress level went up.  What was I going to do with 40+ people in my house?  I was a nervous wreck.  Luckily the weather was PERFECT!!!  Sunny and only about 75 degrees.  Good thing considering out downstairs air conditioning unit stopped working about 2 hours before the party.  I knew something had to go wrong I just wished that something didn't set us back a couple hundred bucks :)  We were fortunate that Shumate was able to come out on such a short notice and was literally backing out of the driveway as the first guest arrived!

One thing I stressed about with this party was TIME!  I wanted to make sure that it coordinated with the majorities nap times.  Mac at that point in time went down for an afternoon nap around noon so I scheduled the party for 2.  It worked out well and we really didn't have any meltdowns until the very end!

I ended up only doing finger foods and some kiddie snacks.  We had juice boxes for the kids and wine as well as a 420 keg for the adults.  Yes...you read that right.  We, parents of the year, had a keg at our 1 year old's birthday party.  In our defense it did have sentimental value.  420 Keg for a 4/20 baby :)

Another thing I stressed about was activities for the kids and adults.  I know most folks don't enjoy going to 1st birthday parties so I wanted to make everyone had something to do to keep them occupied.  We had corn hole and ladder ball set up for the adults and a homemade ball pit and a kid "roller coaster" for the kids.  Word of advise...get this roller coaster.  It was a HIT with both the kids and the adults!

Here are a TON of pictures from the party.  Sadly these are not even half of them!  I can hardly believe that we have already celebrated our baby's first birthday.  We are beyond blessed and this has been the BEST year of my life!

These are in no particular order and it would take forever to give a caption but I think you can follow along!

I have so many pictues and I'm sure I'll get around to posting them :)

2 Special Birthdays!

Not sure why this didn't post a week ago!

Grant celebrated the BIG 3-4 on March 22nd. Of course Mac had to bring him his cards...pardon Grant's sleepy face...it was early!

This is about the only way you can contain him now!!

Both of my boys look sleepy.

Mac gave Grant an acrylic block with a picture of himself (so vain) and on the back it says "I love you Daddy"....Grant LOVED it of course. I got him a pair of shoes (he did not love) a shirt and the Muppet Movie (which he loved). It was a pretty low key birthday. The three of us went to provinos and then came home and hung out which is when Mr. Macster decided he wanted to crawl full force!! This was the first time that Grant had witness it and I think this was his favorite birthday present of all!!!

There was also another special birthday in March. My daddy and Mac's papa turned an age we shall keep to ourselves on March 27th! Mac sure does love papa!!

My dad's favorite thing to do is to "walk" Mac. He will take him and walk him around the yard, the house whatever just talking to him. It is the sweetest thing!

Happy Birthday Daddy and Papa! We love you!
