Birth Story

I wanted to make sure I documented Mac's birth story. There really isn't much to my actual birth story, it happened so fast but I would still like to document it! So this is more for me ;)

I was scheduled for a C-Section on Thursday April 21st @ 730am. I decided to take the entire week off work to get a few last minute things done and to just relax before the big day. The pros to having a scheduled C-Section is you know when it's going to happen so no surprises...the cons to having a scheduled C-Section is you know when it's going to happen and you can stress! The closer we got the more nervous I got.

On Monday I got a sudden urge to clean my entire house...at 39 weeks pregnant this took me ALL DAY but I managed to get the whole house cleaned and all the laundry done...I was impressed! I should have known then that something was up. I've always heard that you get a burst of energy right before you go into labor and I was full of energy! Tuesday I got up and went for my morning walk, ran a bunch of errands and then I baked 36 MADE FROM SCRATCH cupcakes. The plan was to take them to the hospital for the nursing staff and visitors. We had our Wednesday all planned out. I had a doctors appointment @10am on Wednesday morning and Grant was going to take a 1/2 day. Our plan was to go have a nice lunch just the two of us before baby Mac arrived. My parents had plans to get into town around 3pm that afternoon and Mom and I were going to get a pedicure. That night Grant's parents, my parents and Grant and I were going to grab dinner. A nice little Wednesday planned little did I know...

I didn't sleep well Tuesday night. I tossed and turned all night and couldn't get comfortable. I woke up around 5am to use the bathroom and then crawled back in bed. I was taking Grant to work so I knew I only had a couple more hours but I could not fall back to sleep. At 6 o'clock I had a horrible cramp, so bad it caused me to sit up in bed. I got out of bed to use the bathroom (again) and realized that I had either peed on myself or I was just really really sweaty. Once I took a step I realized exactly what had happened...my water broke! I read somewhere that only 10% of women's waters actually break on their own, I guess my body wanted me to experience one piece of labor ;) I calmly told Grant what had happened, told him to feed the dogs while I hopped in the shower. Once I got out of the shower I called the doctor who told me to get to the hospital in the next couple of hours. We then called our folks and told them, my parents had to drive 2 hours so they left without even packing a bag!!! I finished getting ready while Grant loaded the car. I had him take one last picture of me before we left for the hospital.

Here is the last picture of our little family of two!

We arrived at the hospital around 845. It took us a while to get out of the house! Grant's parents actually beat us to the hospital!! Once we got there I assumed that they would check me in and everyone could come hang out in the room....WRONG. I got there they took me back to my room and told me we would be having this baby within the hour. I will admit I had a mini breakdown. Right after they gave me my IV I started crying. I was scared and nervous that my parents wouldn't make it in time. It was a weird feeling knowing what was about to come!

This was after my mini breakdown ;) Grant thought it would be funny to take this picture with my box of tissues.

Grant all decked out in his scrubs!

Right before they wheeled me back!

They would not let Grant come back with me until I already had my spinal. It wasn't painful but it wasn't pleasant. I was very nervous but everyone was very reassuring. Once I had my spinal I felt a lot of pressure and tugging. I couldn't tell what was happening but about 5 mins later they had Grant come in the room. Once he sat down we really didn't have time to talk b/c the doctor was telling Grant to get the camera ready we were about to meet our son! So all that tugging and pressure was them actually doing the procedure and Grant walked right by it and thankfully didn't look!!!

Welcome to the world Mac!

We were told to take a picture of the clock but we couldn't find one...so Grant used his watch. He was born at 10:19am!

First family picture :)

Okay - this is one long post! Basically we arrived at the hospital at 845am and Mac was born at 1019am. I have a big picture post planned with out any words since that is really the only thing people want to see!!

Nursery Update!!

Finally - I've been promising this for weeks! With only two full days until Mac makes his arrival we have his room about 90% done. We are waiting on some letters to go over the changing table that a friends Mom is making for us ;) And I still haven't figured out what I want to put over his crib. So enjoy the pictures!

Yes - that is a picture of his Easter basket! I know that he will only be 4 days old but he needs his own Easter basket! It is full of books and two very cute Masters outfits! Also the picture above the bookcase Grant drew when he was around 5 - I love it!!

So tomorrow we will officially be 39 weeks and only two days away....I plan on updating Wednesday after my LAST doc appointment!!

38 down....1 more to go!!!

Well last week when I meant to post this we only had a week left....now we only have 3 DAYS! I'm starting to stay awake a night going over what is going to happen this Thursday and thinking about what he might look like, how his personality will be and so on. I'm excited...actually that is an HUGE understatement. I'm beyond excited, I don't believe there is a word to describe it ;) Here we are at 38 weeks -

I know I promised a nursery update and I will do that today! Last Friday started my Maternity leave so I plan on doing nothing but relaxing, blogging, napping and some laundry!!!

Holy Moly 37 weeks....FULL TERM!

Where has the time gone?? Am I really 37 weeks pregnant?? We are officially FULL TERM which means he could come at any time and be OKAY! This is a huge relief!!! I cannot believe how FAST this pregnancy has gone by. I feel like we just found out! As of tonight I am only 14 DAYS away from meeting this little boy and I can hardly stand it I'm so excited...BUT at the same time I'm a little sad. I have truly enjoyed being pregnant. That might be because I have had a really good pregnancy. I'm not trying to brag, I know many women have a horrible time being pregnant but I've been pretty lucky. I'm going to miss having him all to myself but at the same time I can't wait to meet him!! I had my 37 week appointment yesterday and all is well. Mac is still sitting straight up with his head under my ribcage, butt down and both legs up by his ears ;) The doctor even commented on how long his legs are...not sure where he is getting that from but maybe that means he has a shot at being somewhat tall! It looks like April 21st is still the day. I go back to the doctor next Wednesday where they will check him one more time in the office and again the day of the C-Section. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery so I can enjoy my time off with my little man! Here is the pic of us at 37 weeks -

In other news my wonderful husband finally finished painting the bookcase and side table for Mac's room! Also his curtains that were supposed to be on back order until the end of June arrived on Wednesday!! This means that by Sunday his room will all be put together minus a few things I'm waiting on for the walls! I promise a nursery update on Sunday!! Speaking of Sunday I hope everyone is cheering for Phil at this year's Masters!!!

I plan on updating more often between now and April 21st! I'm only working Mon-Thur next week so I will have some time on my hands before Mr. Mac arrives. My goal is to finish up a few odds and ends, but mostly rest up for what is about to come! It is hard to believe that we are only 2 weeks away!!

Watch out - I'm back!!!!

FINALLY - our computer is fixed and we are back!! I have so much to blog about so there will be many post over the next few days! Due to our computer shut out I missed blogging about week 34,35and36 of this pregnancy! As far as I can remember they were all great weeks! I'm still feeling really good just getting really EXCITED!! The only thing big to report is our little boy is being stubborn and is still breech!! They did an ultrasound at week 34 and went ahead and scheduled my C-Section for April 21st. Tomorrow I will be 37 weeks (full term....eeek!) and according to my doctor he has a small chance to turn but like they told me at week 28 they didn't think that would happen. So as of right now Mac is scheduled to make his debut in 17 DAYS!! That is unless he decides to come early ;) I will admit at first I was a little upset about the C-Section but I have come to terms with it now....I just want him here and healthy!

Week 34

Week 35 Week 36

I have all sorts of things I need to document but it looks like the weather is getting nasty and it's probably not a good idea to sit on our computer...I wouldn't want to lose it again!
